Meeting it at the Marrow.

Dog Poet Transmitting.......

Imagine that you have a fire within you and that what you feed the fire, determines the quality of the flame and the degree of smoke that comes off of it. This is a multi-dimensional fire that burns on several levels of being and it is fed by thoughts; words, deeds and what you put into your body. Everything you eat has a vibrationary signature; a chemical integrity that makes it different from everything else. There are cows, pigs and rabbits, as well as all the other ‘meats’ that people consume. There are the bird meats and fish meats as well. Each of these meats has a personality to it and at some level it combines with your own personality. Vegetables and grains have a personality too.

A certain quality of being and energy is created by whatever combination you accustom yourself to and over the course of time you become what you are in respect of what you’ve taken in. There is a reverse course to this as well. Everything that comes out of you impresses your environment and over time your image hardens into what you look like to others. Everyone having an impression of you is influenced by their own intake and outflow too. It can be complicated and it usually is. Still, there’s a general impression that we give and then there are the extremes of others who like and dislike us.

What we think and say and do is probably more important than what we eat and drink but everything has some degree of effect on the overall experience.

We see the beasts, the birds and the fishes as creatures involved in basic activities that don’t change. They eat and sleep and reproduce and they protect and educate their offspring in the simple routines of their lives. They learn and teach about danger. They communicate among themselves in a very simple way... or so it seems. Some animals have fairly complex social worlds and some do not. No one could possibly study the whole of Nature. One might say no one could possibly study the whole of the nature within them either and... their conclusions about their observations are going to be colored by what they eat and drink; think, say and do and the quality of the reasoning which comes from what they arrived with and what they grew into.

The times in which you live have a lot to do with what and how you think you are. Events that happen to you and events you witness or hear about have a big influence on what and who you think you are. We are all shaped by our environment and we unconsciously accommodate ourselves to it in order to move through it. Each of us strives for a state of harmony and security according to what we think we want and... what we think we want is based on many things, including what has happened to us as well as what we have witnessed and heard.

There are a number of factors that can be brought to bear on this subject and many books have been written about it. None of the books are fully comprehensive so it would be ludicrous to image that 1500 words would serve... unless one could count upon the intelligence of the reader to see beyond the need for endless comparisons and arguments as well as the presentation of some enormous body of evidence that would turn the whole matter into a mare’s nest.

I have a preference for Alexander’s treatment of The Gordian Knot, which is like cutting through the bullshit. Sometimes there’s more bullshit than at other times and these times certainly qualify in that regard.

When I looked at life and the situations it created for others and myself, I wondered what it meant. What was the purpose of it? This is a critical thing. Some people wonder about the meaning of life and some people just want to create a space for themselves in which to live it... nothing more.

People are very quick to criticize what they see and hear around them and they base it on whatever personal standards they came up with. They are far less likely to criticize themselves because that it human nature. Most of the judgments that people make are directly tied to their need for security; the security of their physical person, the security of their position, the security of their reputation... all the parts of themselves that need protecting. What are they protecting and how effective is anyone at this in the end result? Almost no one is effective at all of these things and even when you are effective at it, most of us aren’t even remembered for very long after we were done with all of our efforts and ...gone to an unknown location or... according to some; simply gone to rot in the Earth with no follow-up.

It is a very rare person who is consumed in the search for meaning and who makes that the purpose of their life. These people are going to experience real difficulty because their search is going to put them at odds with the world in which they live, sooner or later. They are also going to be at odds with their fellows because their thoughts and words and deeds are a reminder of something that everyone senses but few wish to acknowledge. Most of us do not want to be reminded about what is all means because that calls into question and diminishes the efforts and accomplishments that are so important to so many of us. Everyone wants validation and they usually find it on the world’s terms.

Success on the world’s terms requires compromise. It requires making arrangements with certain market forces which drive the world’s economies. Most people look at successful entertainers, sports figures, business people and all the variations of power and prominence as a desirable end. Most people do not see the advertising written on their clothing and often their person as well... or know what that implies. Most people do not realize the amount of accommodation that has to be made in order to maintain one’s status in the world. Deals have to be made along the way. People think that these icons are free but they are not free at all. It is one of life’s most powerful illusions and what causes it to fill the dreams and occupy the efforts of so many who do not possess it... the idea that it is something it is not.

You can only be free if you are free of it; free of the desire for it and free of the nagging persistence of the world and your own thoughts which tell you that you missed it, as if ‘it’ were the object of life, even though it will all be taken from you at some point, no matter what.

It comes down to whether you believe in a Supreme Being or not. It comes down to whether there is a Supreme Being or not. I happen to know that there is. In the process of discovering this and having it irrefutably proven, I thought and said and did things that were considered illegal and socially unacceptable. They may or may not have been essentially wrong. It depends on whether one succeeded or not... the same way it does in the world. I see illegal and socially unacceptable activities at work every day and the final interpretation depends on the power and position of the person performing them... or it has for a long time ...but that is about to change.

If there is a Supreme Being (and there is), that is who will judge us... or rather, that is the only judgment that counts. We need to think about who we are pleasing as we proceed because we cannot please both the world and the Supreme Being. We will be judging ourselves in the final analysis but that judgment will come as a result of the truth being revealed to us by the one whose job it is to do so.

We do not know others any better than we know ourselves. We measure everything and judge everything according to what we assume to be true about ourselves. In most cases it does not take a great deal of trauma or sudden dread to peel away the thin veneer we have convinced ourselves is what we are. All of our self assurance and professed ideals can vanish in a heartbeat. They are only as real as the environment that supports and feeds them.

One thing life does is test the power and integrity of what we believe in and rely upon. Life shows us if what we serve and believe in is real. The meaning of life and the purpose of life is the discovery of the meaning and purpose of life. There is no other reason and everything and anything that happens is connected only to this. The sooner one comes to this understanding, the better it is for them in every respect; better to meet it at the marrow than to live in the thinness of your skin.

I have to go somewhere shortly and there is no internet (at the moment) there. This may be very temporary and there will be only a short hiatus. It could prove longer and that’s just the way it is. I have no idea how long or short it will be. I tell you this by way of explaining my absence for whatever period of time that involves. Please continue to post your comments as they will all be posted one way or another. This will take place sometime next week. I’m just giving due notice ahead of time.

Like the spiders shadow that casts at night
We walk life’s tightrope with hope in sight

Distant cousins from distant lands
We stand together – make not demands

From east to west and back again
We’re all Gods children
We’re all Gods men

Stand up for freedom, take life back
Make peace and love
Not hate - nor spite

Like the spiders shadow that casts at night
The truth is seen through shining light

A web of lies is never strong
When truth is cast we stand as one

Let’s band together in every land
Let’s love and build
Come join with hands

Like the spiders shadow that casts at night
Make peace with love
Not war with might

It's all too strange, not being able to get internet in a first world country for a month or more.

I have to go though because I promised to be there.

The one thing I keep in mind is that it's all under control. I will do this weeks radio show tomorrow so it is ready but after that I have no idea. I could drive to an internet cafe in the town ten k away but I'm not enamored of that and it would just be a drain after a short time.

I'll play it by ear.

A break is not such a bad thing.

Les, Clif High the Web Bot Guy wrote an interesting piece which touches physically and metaphysically many of your topics.

Here is a little excerpt:

The continuous creation/destruction model also supports the inherent validity of the concepts within meditation. Through meditative training (which may also be possible from drugs/chemicals?), the mind to consciousness link can be altered, and perception at a higher level of vibration is therefore possible. Thus the validity of the martial arts saying of “the novice moves from his extremities, the adept from his torso, and the master moves from mind”. And it therefore becomes understandable that the process of mastery, possibly of any discipline, brings the aspirant to a higher level of vibration, and thus a higher level of contact with continuously creating reality, and a potential for greater understanding of both universe and themselves.

The continuous creation/destruction model also explicitly supports the ‘siddhis’ as they are defined within section 2 of the Science of Yoga. The ‘siddhis’ are extra-normal (as we think of the term) abilities which are gained as a human progresses through the yogic or taoist process. The siddhis include a wide range of abilities, including knowing about past and future, but not traveling there.

Les, In my quest to understand life and the meaning of,I have been greatly inspired and assisted by you and the participants of this blog.

After what is decades of learning and observing I have gone from an evolutionest to a creationest. The splendor, the spiritual aspect, the complextity of life point to this conclusion. I have also concluded that there isn't anything that is not spiritual. That is an illusion. the physical world and the spiritual world are one.

Our perception/illusion is so limiting. I don't think this is an accident. We are the universe/god experiencing everything.

I find it funny that man is now starting to play with DNA and think they are playing God. :) Children with blocks. Yes, somebody created DNA to play the game of life. Is it not a much shorter path to go directly to God?

Enjoy the new venue and all is well.

Hey Les

Here's another letter I wrote to my American buddy.

Hey Kenny,

Here's something else to think about: Sometime last March Jay Rockefeller said in a speech to congress that the Internet is the 'Number one national hazard' and said also that it should be shut down. Not only does what he said reveal where he's at spiritually, it also reveals where the members of Congress are at spiritually, otherwise he wouldn't have felt like he had the confidence and freedom to make such statements to them, and which statements evoked not one word of protest from them.

Most people never think about the spiritual dimension of the world control that is so energetically happening, unnoticed mostly thanks to the Jooz media distraction that is constantly going on. Most people think they'll automatically reject Antichrist the man when he starts making noises about taking over the world and becoming its king. The truth is that not only are those in political leadership already aligned with him in spirit, but so are most of the public, by default, because they believe everything they hear said by the media talking heads who are nothing more than Zionist New World Order Judas goat sellouts. The Jooz media talking heads and the talk radio talking heads are really the number one national hazard. And sometime in the not-too-distant future most people are going to have hell to pay for listening to them.

I will sincerely look into options but any way you slice it there's going to be about a week of downtime. I have a Blackberry (which I've never used). I suppose I can just quick upload the entries and check in every now and again for the comments. I will promise to do my best but there's going to be a week in between somehow because I have to travel a long distance because of a promise I made and I have to attend to a lot of details to make the event memorable for someone who may not have all that many events left.

After that we'll see. I can't imagine that the readers have read through all of the archives. There's plenty of the same thing there.

Mr Visible,

It isn't so much what you say. That is part of it of course. it's the way you say it and the conviction that rings in your words. You have a way of giving voice to my own thoughts and often they are the very thoughts most recently moving in my mind. This happens more often than not.

I teach comparative religion at the post grad and graduate level. I've read at least something from almost everyone. It's the difference between building lumber and a live tree. You've made me understand why I entered this field of study to begin with and had grow very cynical about over the years.

As is the case with a number of readers here I owe you a debt that I could not possibly repay. I hope my gratitude and my words mean something to you because all I have otherwise is money and you refused that.

It may be that friendship will count for something at some later time.

It's difficult for me, in ways I could not possibly talk about here, to process a lot of this... not the praise and blame, I've had those all my life... it's the other stuff that goes on out of sight... my sight and yours.

I'm watching the Book of Eli right now and I can see that the world is mirroring certain things and we are the real life portion of that.

Gordian Knot: An intricate knot tied by King Gordius of Phrygia and cut by Alexander the Great with his sword after hearing an oracle promise that whoever could undo it would be the next ruler of Asia.
==============
Yes, Alexander was a very practical man, and he knew his cleverness would make him ruler of Asia. One can think on this for a bit and wonder if this was really solving the problem of the knot or simply an indication by a man of force that nothing will stand in the way of his goal. I tend as I grow older to think it is the latter. It may be that the short-cuts are the long way around.

I've have yet to see it, but wondered what the "Book of Eli" was going to do. Watching these movies is important because it's messaging, although most don't realize that "they" are obliged to tell us what's coming to a theater near us, soon.
And Anonymous said something about becoming a creationist and then mentioned "them" playing with DNA. I don't think the 'Supreme Being' makes any judgements. 'The One' is beyond judgement, leaving you (the soul) to be the judge, jury etc during your life review. A common event recalled by ND experiencers.

I have no right to judge you any more than you have a right to judge me. Therefore, why should any Entity, no matter how powerful, have any more rights than our collective souls?

If we are one with the creator, then ALL is creation - no judgement necessary.

Seems as if we are actually not the judge but the bewildered mistaken doer who is forced by material nature to accept this body or that, regardless of high highly or lowly we "judge" ourselves.

We are the judged.

“The bewildered spirit soul, under the influence of the three modes of material nature, thinks himself the doer of activities that are in actuality carried out by nature.” (Bg. 3.27)

Prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni: Material nature is pulling everyone by the ear, just as a stern teacher pulls a student. Every individual is under the dictations of material nature and is being put sometimes in this body and sometimes in that. We are now fortunate to have acquired a human body, but we can easily see that there are many other types of bodies (8,400,000 according to Padma Purāṇa) and by the laws of nature we can be put into any type of body according to our work. Thus we are completely in the grip of material nature. Although this lifetime we may be fortunate in acquiring a human body, there is no guarantee that the next time we will not have the body of a dog or some other animal. All this depends on our work. No one can say, “After my death, I will take my birth again in America.” Material nature will force us into this body or that. Since we are not authorities, Bhagavad-gītā informs us that everything is being conducted by the supreme laws of nature, and it is the foolish man who thinks, “I am something. I am independent.”

Les, I am not hoping to be contrary per se. I was struck by the metaphor of Alexander cutting the knot. This man of force and greed who became a God-King and who died as young as James Dean acted out his fate in great haste and impatience by cutting the knot.

And here is my point: it is about how we think metaphorically and what the metaphor means. True, sometimes a cigar is a only a cigar, but Alexander is a very deeply entrenched Western meme that stands for pure action. His cleverness undid him. Yet he stands celebrated as the man of action who cut the Gordian knot.
It is just that contrast that struck me. Which then made me go hmm, what other metaphors might be used that do not come forth instinctively? Flyby observation.
I just feel that in Western culture too much is offered up to the God of Speed. We need the logic of the brake.

And... once again, it was only about being decisive. One does not have to memorize the Dhamapada to comprehend or achieve Buddha Nature. Mine was activated without knowing much about any of it at all and that exposure followed and has proven unnecessary and I can't even remember any of it now. One doesn't even have to read it or engage in any of the countless rituals that to me are the long way around.

It was an image having nothing to do with the character playing it on TV. I don't know why this simple point is so elusive.

If I were to write perfectly so that every wish were met for every reader I would just publish blank pages since it is the backing screen that is real, not the film playing on it.

Les I do agree in regards to your intention. You are a very talented writer and you write well off the cuff. Yet, think it over a sec. What sort of decision did Alexander make? To cut a knot he refused to try to solve. Is this decisiveness or ignorance? We never are taught that this is an ignorant act by a man of force.

One of these days when you get back from vacation I am going to have to short take on Alexander the Great. He has some pretty bad pub being a war general but looking at various sources concerning him, The Generalship of Alexander the Great, I don't think he was quite the ogre he is made out to be.

Yes he did fight his way to India but at the same time overturned despots, defeated kingdoms who did not understand his thrust and then restored the king to power once he understood the situation.

He was schooled by Aristotle from an early age, some say Phillip was not the real father but the fleeing last Egyptian Pharaoh who sired him during a pagan rituals.

At any rate after arriving in Egypt he pronounced their Gods as his God, and declared himself the equal of Hercules and the Gods. Think of it as an attack on various satanic kingdoms at the time.

It was a hard thing to undo this knot.
The rainbow shines but only in the thought
Of him that looks. Yet not in that alone,
For who makes rainbows by invention?
And many standing round a waterfall
See one bow each, yet not the same to all,
But each a hand's breadth further than the next.
The sun on falling waters writes the text
Which yet is in the eye or in the thought.

These friendly, intelligent, cheerful animals live relatively happy lives until they're old enough to be slaughtered. Her rationale is that these creatures as domesticated breeds are our history and our responsibility, and that allowing them to die out because they don't fit a corporate paradigm is an obscenity. I agree.

And then, there's the poor fellow who partially ended up in my refrigerator. I can't speak for the quality of his or her life, except that it probably wasn't very good. But bless you, whoever you were, your fear and pain were not for nought, for thou art with me now, and may thou be exalted in me, forever if thou choose, or for a day if not.

To Eric

I'm using one these USB sticks right now here in rural British Columbia, a very mountainous area similar to the Balkans. It's only as good as the network it's locked into, and if it's 1990s technology then you get 1990s internet speeds, or worse. During the peak hours of the day 60 kbps is not uncommon.

Greetings Friends,

It looks like I will have no internet for the duration of my stay here so contact will be sporadic. I don't want to get into drving to an internet cafe every day. I will do the radio show from now on though and I will have some new postings very soon. The comment posting will be problematic so please be patient.

I have not seen a news cast or a news site or heard any news in almost 3 weeks so I have no idea what is happening and won't for a couple of more weeks.. I'll try to think of something to say (grin).

Can't answer emails or much else but sooner or later.

Much Love to you all....

The novel should be finished when I get back so there is that.

I have learned a lot about counciousness from having animals. We always had cats and dogs. If you are not consistent in telling your dog its place, it will get confused and act irrasjonal\irregular. The dog will show signs of stress and anxiety, but as long as the dog knows it place, i.e. below you, it will behave very different. The dog is calm and feel safe. This may also be why cats are often jumpy and agressive, cause they trust no-one and no place.

But cats will also after a while understand that it is safe inside the house(or wherever). In other words, you have been successfull in showing/telling/communicating to your animal that you will look after it. They even communicate cat to dog and find a way to co-exist.

I think I see some similarities with people here... Unsafe and agressive, because that is the default "mode" for counciousness that doesn't communicate with surrounding conciousness. In other words we are talking away our real communication. Words often clog up the real message!

I can talk to my dog for hours, and it will still only understand sound, gestures and my mood. It will never understand the language or the grammar, but if I I'm open to learning about dog's way to communicate, in the same way he is trying to understand my way, we can find "common ground".

So I think the real issue is communication, NOT that there are so many different views of right and wrong, of course there are on a superfiscial level, but I think if we learn to communicate we will find our "common ground", and see the beauty of our cooperation.

Nothing is isolated, it all evolves together, as long as counciousness feels isolated, feels unloved, it behaves accordingly. The "default mode" for counsciousness is to be loved and too feel the connection to all that is, any loss in communication is a loss of consciousness!?

While I'm on about communication, if you don't have the internet, that may be because that is the way it's supposed to be. Maybe to "force" some of the brilliant commenters here to go elsewhere and spread the light. Maybe we all needed a break from your "drunken ramblings", maybe I don't know!!

Much love to all "here"!!
